Troubleshooting

My quote or invoice total looks wrong

Check Overhead setup first — annual costs and working days drive overhead allocation. Then check each line: labour hours and rates, travel miles and rate, material markups, and whether materials are customer supplied. If you use target margin, review the review step totals. If you are VAT registered, confirm VAT is toggled correctly in your overhead profile.

I cannot create a quote or invoice

Confirm your email is verified (Settings → Profile). On the Free plan, confirm you still have remaining allowance on the Dashboard. Otherwise you may need to upgrade to Pro.

I cannot send by email

Ensure the client has an email address on the quote or invoice. The send action appears on the detail page for draft or sent quotes and on invoice detail — see Email clients and delivery tracking. If status stays on Failed or Bounced, check the address and try again.

Client portal or card payment issues

Confirm you copied the full portal link from the quote or invoice detail page. For card pay, check Settings → Payments (Stripe connected and onboarding complete) and the invoice's Client payment options. After paying, wait a moment for confirmation — see Card payments and recording payments and Client portals.

Address lookup does not find my site

See UK address lookup — you can always type the address manually.

Certificate PDF or email issues

You must accept the compliance legal notice before your first issue. If PDF generation shows as in progress, wait a few seconds and refresh. For email problems, check the client email on the certificate and see Compliance certificates.
